Recharge and explore the beauty of Croatia with our travel tips
The eighth edition of Defected Croatia will take place from 01-04 August 2024. Tickets are available using the buttons above!
With so many amazing acts (check the full line-up here) and a variety of other activities going on at the festival site, we encourage you to take time away if you want to, recharge and explore the beauty of Croatia off site with these travel tips!
1. Walk from Tisno to Jezera
A hidden nook of the Adriatic, Jezera is the town of seafarers, fishermen and divers located on the southeast side of the island of Murter. Jezera is secluded into a horseshoe shaped bay, with the name meaning ‘lakes’ in several Slavic languages.
After crossing the bridge in Tisno, and taking in the gorgeous views of the marina, there lies a beautiful paved path that takes you all the way Jezera. You’ll find secluded rock beaches along the way, and some sand/pebble beaches the closer you get to your destination. Most of the path is shaded in pine trees too, making it popular with joggers and cyclists alike.
2. Rent a Bike
Speaking of cyclists, there are many cycle paths around Tisno, making renting a bike a good idea if you are looking to explore the local area, especially if you are towards the far end of the festival site!
Festival-goers can cycle from Tisno to Murter town in no more than 35 minutes. There you have some of the best restaurants in the area, as well as beautiful beaches Slanica and Podvrske.
Similarly, Tisno to Jezera is only a 20-minute cycle; plot your own route and enjoy the August sunshine away from our Croatia festival.
3. Journey by Boat
You can rent a small boat (no licence needed!) from any of the boat hire places along the quay in Tisno, or rent a larger boat with a captain. This boat rental website comes highly recommended.
There are many other fantastic aquatic activities on offer including fishing, diving, swimming, jet skiing and more. Explore the bay, marina and ocean in the summer sun with ease
4. Visit Krka National Park
About a 30-40 minute drive from Tisno, this national park features pristine waterfalls, now open to bathe in once more. It’s the size and variety of waterfalls that gives the nature reserve an eternal appeal, making it one of the most popular natural wonders in the whole of the Balkans.
This trip makes a relaxing day or half-day trip, with a day fee allowing you to explore at your own pace. Day passes are available from official vendors at each of the park’s five entrances.
5. Eat Local in Tisno
Ranging from the casual, value eats (Konoba Lilly) to once-in-a-lifetime dining experiences (Konoba Boba, Murter) exit the festival site and Croatia has you covered with a wide range of delicious eateries within walking distance.
Restaurant Marin is situated at the crossroads outside Tisno. Specialising in spit-roast pig, this is one for the meat-lovers. Or, in Tisno village, sample the local delicacies available at Konoba Tereza or Restoran Prova, with the latter providing seafood cooked to perfection.
Pizza lovers will want to aim for Pizzeria Martin or Konoba Broscica, both just over Tisno bridge, one to the left and one to the right! For the hidden gem seekers, Klara is a bakery at Tisno bridge - if you know, you know…
